Description
Lesser Mealworm (Alphitobius diaperinus) belongs to the same family as well known mealworm, the darkling beetles.
It is significantly smaller and although larvae can be used for feeding of young spiders, mantids etc the most popular is it as clean up crew for vivariums or other insects cultures. Beetles and larvae are voraciously recycling almost any organic material – food leftover, dead insects, poo etc. So they are destroying all the mess that can be used by harmful microorganisms and other unwanted neighbours like Phorid flies (also known as sewer flies).
Kept separately they can be fed with oats, different fruits and vegetables, fish food etc.
With one pack you will get 30 beetles of Lesser Mealworm what is more than enough to start new colony.
