Short care sheet for Haplopus micropterus:
Origin: Dominican Republic (Caribbean)
Size: 10-14 cm
Temperature: can be kept at room temperature
Humidity: Low (spraying slightly to provide insects with drinking water)
Difficulty Level: Easy
Sexually reproducing species – females are more robust and longer than males, but males have more bright colouration with olive green body and pink wings. Females are wingless and have small wings buds only.
These insects are perfectly feeding on Bramble, but also they can eat Hypericum and Oak leaves.
Eggs are being dropped to the ground and can be incubated in slightly humid substrate like coco coir or vermiculite, incubation is 4-6 months long. Hatching rate is very good.
